Know Yourself. Know Your Roster. Coach Every Personality.
This is the coach-side companion to your team's TEAM Leadership System. It takes about 5 minutes a week β you'll get your own coaching style, a resilience score, a clash-risk read on your top players, and a season-long playbook that adjusts to your roster.
ποΈ Team Setup β Unlocks With Your Purchase
Once you complete your purchase, this is where you'll run everything for your roster: your join code, seat usage, an auto-synced read on each player's style as they join, and your team's own brand color across the whole site and every downloadable workbook.
See Pricing βBefore you start β how much experience do you have coaching?
This changes how results and guidance are framed for you β nothing else.
What this replaces
Right now, getting a good team leader is mostly luck β a strong personality happens to walk in one season, then graduates, and you're starting over with no system to teach what you don't have written down. This turns that into something repeatable: you understand your own style, you see where your top players are likely to clash with it, and you get a specific, weekly plan instead of guessing.
Your 9-Week Arc
| Trial Week | Free preview β a taste of what your team will experience |
| Weeks 1β8 | Full program, personalized to your coaching style and your roster's clash risks |
| Bonus Week | End-of-season support: wrap-up, awards, planning next season |
π This Portal Works Best With Your Coach Workbook
Think of it as two views of the same program: the website is fast, live, and does the scoring for you; the workbook is the deeper, offline reference. Get in the habit of checking the workbook whenever a week on this site needs more explanation than a bullet point can give β that pairing is by design, not a gap.
Try It Before You Commit
Before you commit to a season, take a few minutes to see what this actually is. It's not another thing to grade or manage β it's a system that turns "I hope a leader shows up this year" into something repeatable.
The 30,000-Foot View
Every week of this program β the workbook and this website, for you and your team β runs on the same four-stage rhythm. Once you know it, nothing that follows will feel unfamiliar:
Do this every week for a season and it stops being a program you're running and starts being how your program runs β repeatable, not dependent on one strong personality showing up and eventually graduating.
What This Builds, Concretely
| Know Your Team | Your own coaching style, your resilience score, and a real clash-risk read on your top players β instead of finding out the hard way mid-season. |
| Lead Your Season | A week-by-week playbook with scripts and zero-prep mode built in, so leadership development doesn't fall off when the season gets busy. |
| Build Your Culture | Certificates, a workbook, and a roster/clash system that carries over season to season β so what you build doesn't graduate with your captain. |
Need Buy-In First?
If a Booster Club or Athletic Director needs to sign off before you commit, the Booster Club and AD one-pagers are unlocked for you during your trial β head to Downloads to grab them. Built with cited research to make that approval conversation easy.

The Four Coaching Styles
20 Questions
Answer based on how you actually coach, not how you wish you coached. 0 / 20 answered
My Coaching Range
Knowing your own coaching style is one thing β actually coaching outside it when a player needs something different is another. This is the coach's version of "The Audible," the same concept your players learn in Week 6: not changing who you are, but adjusting your approach to fit the player and the moment in front of you instead of defaulting to whatever comes naturally to you.

My Philosophy, Mission & Goals
Why This Matters
Your coaching style quiz shows how you tend to lead. This is deeper: the belief system underneath every decision you make β usually formed long before you had words for it. Coaches who've never written this down still coach from it every day; they just can't explain their own "why" when a player, parent, or admin asks. Answer these honestly, not diplomatically. There's no scoring here β the value is in seeing your own answers in writing.
What You Fundamentally Believe
π‘ Need inspiration? How respected coaches have put it
John Wooden (UCLA basketball), on his own definition of success: "Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do the best of which you are capable." β success measured by effort and character, not the scoreboard.
Nick Saban (Alabama football), on "The Process": "Don't think about winning the SEC Championship. Don't think about the national championship. Think about what you needed to do in this drill, on this play, in this moment." β focus on what's controllable today, not the outcome down the road.
Pete Carroll (Seattle Seahawks/USC football), on "Always Compete": "It's about being the very best you can be... My competitive approach is that 'it's all about us.' If we've really done the preparation to elevate ourselves to our full potential, it shouldn't matter whom we're playing." β competing against your own potential, not just the opponent.
What You're Building With This Team, This Season
π‘ Need inspiration? How respected coaches have put it
Dabo Swinney (Clemson football): "It's my purpose in life. To use the game of football to build great men. It's my calling, and that's never changed." He's also described the specifics: "Graduation, equipping them as men, making sure they have a college experience... that's our purpose." β a mission bigger than any one season's record.
Swinney again, on consistency: "Here's our purpose, here was our purpose 16 years ago, and that's still the purpose. And everything we do is about that, period." β a mission built to outlast any single roster or season.
Your Non-Negotiables
π‘ Need inspiration? How respected coaches have put it
Vince Lombardi (Green Bay Packers): "Individual commitment to a group effort β that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work." He also tied values directly to excellence: "The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence." β non-negotiables built around commitment to the group and to excellence.
Dabo Swinney (Clemson football): "Our culture is family, creating a family atmosphere... We do not get away from our core values. We do not get away from the foundation of this program." β values as the thing that doesn't move even when everything else does.
Anson Dorrance (UNC soccer), on his "Competitive Cauldron": "We follow the philosophy that steel sharpens steel." Competitive drive, he says, "is not governed by innate ability, but by self-discipline and desire." β a value built on effort and competitiveness, which every player can actually choose.
Where This Is Actually Headed
Philosophy and values without goals stay abstract. This is where it gets concrete and measurable.
π‘ Need inspiration? How respected coaches have put it
Mike Krzyzewski ("Coach K," Duke basketball): "Goals should be realistic, attainable, and shared among all members of the team." β a goal your whole roster actually knows and can repeat back to you, not just something in your own head.
Anson Dorrance (UNC soccer) turned an abstract goal β "compete harder" β into something trackable: ranked fitness, agility, and competitive metrics posted after every practice as part of his "Competitive Cauldron." β a goal you can actually measure, not just talk about.
Nick Saban (Alabama football) defines success as "consistency of performance," not a single outcome. β a goal about how the team performs over time, not just one trophy.

𧩠Staff Coaching-Style Fit
Confident, take-command interviews tend to reward candidates who coach like you already do. This checks your staff's actual coaching-style range against what your roster needs β so your next hire is picked for range, not just charisma.

π Evaluate a Candidate
Before you decide on "command of the room" alone, check what this candidate would actually add to your staff's range β the quieter presence with a track record of players running through walls for her can be exactly what's missing.
Captain Candidate Finder
π― Built for Trial Week
Before you name a captain for the season, use this during your trial to compare your top 3 candidates β not just on "who's the best player," but on the traits that actually predict whether teammates will follow someone.
π§ Concepts To Weigh, Given Your Coaching Style
Before You Compare Candidates β Think It Through
Nothing here is scored or shared β these are just here to get your honest answer down before you start attaching names to it.
Example: "He was first on the field and last to leave β nobody had to wonder if he meant it."
Example: "She was the best player, but when things got tense she went quiet instead of settling people down."
Example: "Keep the bench from turning on each other β not fake positivity, just steady."
Example: "I'd take a player who owns their mistakes out loud over a more talented one who deflects."

π Your Captain's Top 10
This is your guiding light for the season, not a scorecard. Your current candidates may not check every box yet β that's normal. Use this list to develop them, and to guide who you name captain down the road.
Finalizing locks in a snapshot of this list to share with the team site. Keep adjusting the checklist any time β just re-finalize when you want the shared version to catch up.

Body Language Quick Reference
What stress looks like before a player says a word β by style. Useful for you, and worth sharing with an assistant coach.
Why This Matters
Athletes read your face and posture before they process a word you say β and when your tone says one thing but your body says another, they tend to believe the body, not the words.1 Reading a player's body language works the same way in reverse: someone who says "I'm fine" with crossed arms and no eye contact is telling you two different things at once. Researchers who study the coach-athlete relationship specifically have found that nonverbal cues carry real weight in how athletes evaluate training and their coach.2 This isn't about becoming a mind-reader β it's about catching stress, disengagement, or a confidence dip early enough to actually do something about it, using the same reading skills professional observers rely on.3
Your Roster, By Style
π― What To Do With This Information
Spotting the signal is only half of it β how you approach a stressed player works differently by style. Same situation, four different openers.
π Recommended Reading & References
The guidance above is grounded in the sources below β good next reads if you want to go deeper.
-
Mehrabian, A. (1981). Silent Messages: Implicit Communication of Emotions and Attitudes (2nd ed.). Wadsworth.
Source of the famous "words / tone / body language" research β worth reading directly, since the popular 7%-38%-55% version gets oversimplified. Mehrabian's actual finding was narrower: when a person's words and body language disagree about their feelings, listeners trust the nonverbal signal more.
-
Dobrescu, T. (2014). The Role of Non-verbal Communication in the Coach-athlete Relationship. Procedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences, 149, 286β291.
A study specifically on coaches and athletes, not communication in general β direct support for why this page exists.
-
Navarro, J., & Karlins, M. (2008). What Every BODY Is Saying: An Ex-FBI Agent's Guide to Speed-Reading People. HarperCollins.
Written by a former FBI counterintelligence agent trained in reading nonverbal behavior β the most practical, field-tested read of the three.
